On Friday, Microsoft made public in a blog post the new Windows 8 Logo. There may be many reasons for choosing the new logo and rightly so. I would like to share my thought about the new redesigned art work.
Here’s what I think:
The new logo gives a sense of simplicity and a clean look and feel. With just two colors the logo defines a new sense of style.
Apart from changing the logo, boldness resonates from the redesigned art work.
- Authentically Digital
Like Sam Moreau, I too think it reflects a digital feel rather than a plastic feel.
- Lack of characteristic colors
The new logo lacks the characteristic colors which the past versions have provided us. The monochromatic scheme is not at all bad, but neither does it give a sense of bright, cheerful colors that it has worn in the past.
- Personal touch
In the blog post, Sam said that “when you change your color, the logo changes to reflect you. It is a “Personal” Computer after all.”. This I think gives the logo a personal touch.
I certainly welcome the change, but it will reserve my final judgement till I see this new logo in the Windows product (In the Consumer preview perhaps).
